Classroom
Collaborating with parents, preschool directors and educators can significantly enhance children's development of essential skills and instill Islamic core values rooted in theQuran and Hadith, thereby preparing them for the demands of formal schooling. Therefore, choosing an academically rigorous and age-appropriate preschool program is vital to this process.
Ages and Stages
At our academy,
preschool encompasses structured learning experiences for children prior to
their entry into first grade, specifically targeting those aged two through
five years.
We categorize these age groups as follows:
Ø
Children
aged two and three years are enrolled in KG1 (Kindergarten 1).
Ø
Children
who are four years old are placed in KG2 (Kindergarten 2).
Ø
Children
aged five years are assigned to KG3 (Kindergarten 3)
2- and 3-Year-Old
We offer distinct programs tailored to each age group, recognizing the differences in cognitive and motor skill development between 2- and 3-year-olds and 4- and 5-year-olds. KG1 students are introduced to formal education for the first time, while KG2 students are at an intermediate level between KG1 and KG3. KG3 students, in turn, are being prepared for the transition to first grade in elementary school.
a) Children are introduced to three categories of fundamental skills:
Fi First: Fundamental Knowledge of the Qur'an and Islam
Our curriculum
provides a structured approach to learning the Qur'an, beginning with the
recitation of short verses, and gradually progressing to longer surahs based on
students' memorization abilities and the prescribed timetable. We will also
share moral stories from the Qur'an and significant Hadiths suitable for both
children and adults. Additionally, we will teach essential Islamic practices,
including Salah, the habit of regular prayer at school or before returning
home, proper ablution (wudu), and other foundational Islamic principles.
b) Second: Academic Foundations
To support cognitive
development, our program integrates various concepts such as phonics,
mathematics, and art through interactive methods including flashcards, coloring
pages, and songs. Students will learn about letter sounds and shapes, phonics,
numerical concepts, listening comprehension, hand-eye coordination, early
writing skills, and important virtues such as kindness, love of God, proper
behavior, sharing, obedience, honesty, and helpfulness.
c) Third: Development of Foundational
Skills
Our objective is to
enhance children's ability to apply their knowledge effectively and efficiently
in practical situations. We focus on developing dexterity and coordination,
particularly for physical tasks, while also cultivating their proficiency in various
skills. For example, students will be instructed on reciting and reading the
duas learned in class, including those before and after meals. Additionally, we
will emphasize appropriate behavior such as maintaining focus and composure,
proper sitting posture during meals, and using computer software for activities
such as painting and organizing the classroom.
K4 and K5 (Kindergarten)
While the concepts and skills
addressed in our K2 and K3 curricula are similar, they are designed as
distinct, developmentally appropriate programs, similar to our KG1 curriculum.
Our K3 program, tailored for children aged five to six, is focused on preparing
them for a lifetime of learning and application. In contrast, the K2 Academy
Idrak As Salam program serves as a transitional phase bridging preschool and
kindergarten.
Our kindergarten curriculum offers a robust foundation of essential skills through a comprehensive academic program that encompasses core subjects and addresses all aspects of child development. Students will be exposed to a diverse range of language arts, including phonics, reading, and writing, in Arabic, English, Malay, Chinese, and Japanese. Additionally, the curriculum includes instruction in mathematics, science, and health to broaden their perspectives and stimulate their curiosity about the world of learning.

What Makes the Curriculm of Academy Idrak As Salam Unique
1) A Passion for Learning
Our curriculum
incorporates practical, hands-on activities such as baking homemade cookies,
needlework, and basic decorations, making learning a dynamic and interactive
experience. These real-life activities captivate students in ways that
traditional methods alone cannot achieve. By using tangible objects, games,
coloring pages, and other resources, teachers create engaging projects that
help children grasp fundamental concepts and build a solid base in math and
literacy.
Character development
rooted in Islamic principles is integral to the growth of preschool-aged
children, complementing their academic and social development. At Academy Idrak
As Salam, our curriculum incorporates a dedicated Al Quran and Hadith program, embedding
Islamic values throughout our educational offerings year-round.
Our science curriculum
demonstrates this integration by incorporating Islamic teachings into various
topics. Lessons on fundamental concepts such as the meaning of life, the belief
in the Almighty One God, and the objectives of the hereafter are designed to
enhance students' understanding and appreciation of science as a reflection of
divine creation.
Students will engage
with subjects including health, weather, seasons, animals, seeds, and
coastlines, discovering how each aspect of the natural world serves a distinct
purpose as bestowed by God. This approach helps cultivate a profound connection
between students' scientific learning and their spiritual understanding and
strengthen their bonds with their Creator.

Age Appropriate
Academy Idrak As Salam offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum designed for preschool-aged children, taking into account the varying motor skills and cognitive abilities of young learners. The curriculum is structured into distinct stages: KG1 for 2-year-olds and 3-year-olds, KG2 for 4-year-olds, and KG3 for 5-year-olds. This structured approach ensures that each age group receives tailored educational experiences that align with their developmental milestones.
For instance, our Readiness Skills book for KG2 students builds upon previously acquired knowledge and reinforces fundamental kindergarten concepts, including colors, animals, shapes, and familiar places. This preparatory work effectively supports their transition to KG3, setting them up for continued success in their educational journey.
